System Manager notes

Some notes from my meeting asked to relay to all staff:

1. Any items asking to be sent to SLC when checked in, should either be going to MCL or TPL(whoever owns that item), NOT SLC.

2. The delivery sorters are saying that the 3 letter codes on the delivery (white) slips are getting worse and not better.  The list of correct codes in on our Intranet under Forms titled Prefixes for SLC libraries.  What they are seeing the most is for libraries that have branches like Warren and Romeo, transit slips are being marked with the “main/largest” library for all the branches. Example:WAM for every Warren branch.

3. With the latest upgrade, for many patrons who have had more than one card ever issued to them, their NOTES are sometimes moving down to the bottom of the Extended tab screen. This means we have to be very careful and scroll down and make sure we are seeing everything in that tab. We cannot assume the most important notes are at the very top anymore.

4. It is unacceptable to send another libraries item back to them with any kind of problem, without first completing a pink problem slip(to the best of your ability) and securing it to the item in some way.  These pink slips are being overhauled to make them less “intimidating” and libraries should have them new slips by the end of the year, but in the meantime we need to use the pink slips we currently have.  Sticky notes, pieces of paper, and notes on the white delivery slips are unacceptable.

5. SLC will be outsourcing our email. If you have a libcoop.net email, you will be changed over by the end of the year.  Chris will be working with each library one at a time and when our time comes I will work with each staff member who has a libcoop account.  If you store emails and/or contacts on iserver you will need to let me know so we can figure out the best way to try and save as much as possible. In the meantime, please delete any kept mail that you don’t need.

6. SLC thinks there might be problems with the system allowing holds on non-holdable items. If you see any holds that you think should not be “kicking up” on a CHE item, please either email/write the information down for me to send on to SLC.
