Changes - Part 3
We are attempting to move all the freebies into the Lobby or Acrylic holders by the Meeting Room.
From now on Metro Parent, Senior Living News, Alternatives for Seniors and all of Bookpage will be kept in the Lobby. The Metro Times will continue to stay at the bottom of newspapers.
If you are not 100 percent sure where a freebie should go now, please put any and all freebies on my "spare" desk and I will put them out into the Library.
We are duplicating some freebies on top of the display case (by the bathrooms) and on the Reference desk, but I want to make sure they are in the Lobby first if at all possible.
By moving everything into one central, high traffic location, these items will be seen/used. Also, if a patron asks where something is, staff should be able to confidently say that if it is not in the Lobby, we don't have any more at this time.
Also, we are doing a pretty big shift in the Children's room, so several collections will be moving/expanding. This should be done by the end of the week, so wander over and re associate yourself with where things are.
Jenny has a great children's book review blog and a display that was hidden back in the empty shelves of the children's room. We are moving it out to prime real estate and making a permanent section for it on the staff picks. It is called the "Windowseat". On the display board is a sign explaining what it is, some books that have been reviewed (available for checkout) and some bookmarks that patron' s can take home to check out the online blog and find more items they might like. (Bookmarks forthcoming).
More updates will follow as we have many more changes to come.
