Patron requests for items not owned

Reference Librarians,

If a patron asks for an item that CHE doesn't own and you think we should get it, please do the following:

Find the item on Amazon.com if possible.
Send a LINK in an email (the same way you send regular orders) to:
  1. The Librarian in charge of that area OR
  2. To Margaret if it is in your ordering area

If you would like the patron to be put on hold for the item, but for ANY reson can not do it at the time the patron is standing in front of you (other libraries items are not-holdable, nobody else owns, etc) then be sure to include in the email a note to place a hold and the patrons name and Library card number.

If you are a librarian who RECEIVES an email from another librarian and agree that we should order the item, be sure to FORWARD the original email to Margaret. (By forwarding any links will stay cleanly attached).

When Maragaret receives the email she will order the item and immediately place the hold for the patron.

Also, if for any reason you would like to keep track of these types of requests/orders, go ahead and C.C. (carbon copy) the email to yourself. This way you can make a folder and save the emails in a folder for later reference.
