Snow Removal

Most of you know that the Chesterfield Township DPW is responsible for plowing and salting our parking lot and sidewalks. They will be out here anytime conditions outside produce a slick surface, regardless of how much it snows or sleets. If at anytime you notice that the condition of the parking lot or sidewalks are slick we have two options.

If it’s a small area, we can salt ourselves with the salt in the garbage can outside the front of the library. There is a bucket inside the can for spreading. Use whatever we need to make the surface safe. If it’s in the back parking lot, especially around the downspouts and back door, we can use either the salt from the front garbage can or any of the salt in the bags by the back door.
If we can not take care of the issue ourselves and it’s between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm we need to call the DPW/Water Dept. at 949-0400 Ext. #3 and ask one of the ladies to contact Mark Palomino. Make sure you let them know that the parking lot/sidewalks are unsafe or whatever the issue is. If you don’t they may not call him right away. You may also try to call the DPW Garage at Brandenburg Park at 725-3335. Sometimes someone will answer, if not, leave a message and Mark will call back. They are in the garage at least four times a day.

If it’s after hours you can call Mark at home at 949-7012 and let him know what’s going on. He lives close by and says it’s not a problem to come out if we need him to.
If you can not get him or someone at home you can also call the Chesterfield Police Department Dispatch at 949-2322. They have two-way radios and can contact Mark for us.

Please remember to record any incident that goes on here if I am gone so I can include that in my maintenance logs. If possible, please take pictures and let me know as soon as you can.

Thanks!
Sue A.
