Computer open/close procedures - Edited - Again!

Clarification of night/morning procedures for library computers

AT CLOSE – ALL STAFF computers need to be left on. The only thing that should be turned off is the monitor. (The machines need to be left on to update/run anti-virus software.)

AT OPEN – ALL STAFF computers need to be rebooted by the first person to use that machine each day.

To reboot a computer:
1. Click on START at the bottom left of the screen.
2. Click on Turn off Computer (just above START).
3. From the box that pops up Click on Restart.

AT CLOSE – ALL PAC’s - Turn off each CPU. (Directions on how to shut down the PAC's is towards the end of this post). Then turn off each monitor.

AT OPEN – ALL PAC’S – Turn on each CPU by pressing the power button . Then turn each monitor on by pressing the power button.

ORDER of OPEN for all machines in the front of the Library.
The opening staff member will turn on/reboot all machines in the front of the library in the
following order.
1. Reboot both Reference computers.
2. Turn on the Laptop on the side of the Reference desk (by holding down the power key for about 2 seconds.)
3. Reboot all three circulation computers. **Make sure Circ 3 is logged into circulation and NOT sitting on the first screen (where you choose between "circ" and "admin").
4. Turn on all eight PAC’s.

How to shutdown the PAC’s.
Steps 1 & 2 only need to be done on the PAC’s with PC reservation (PAC’s 1,5,6,7,8).
Steps 3 & 4 need to be done on all machines.

1. While holding down the CTRL key click once with the mouse on the “PC Reservation” graphic”.
2. A box will pop up. Enter the password into the box and click “OK”. (the same password as your workflows circulation login password.)
3. Then while holding down the ALT key depress the F4 key once. A box will pop up.
4. Click the "Turn off" button.
